David Shaw at Sounds of Summer

Ohio born David Shaw is a 27-year old singer/songwriter widely recognized as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the New Orleans based band, The Revivalists.

Since joining the band in 2007, David has brought his extraordinary artistry and fresh musical vision to bear on reinventing the local New Orleans music scene. His unique weaving of the harmonic concepts of rock & roll together with southern folk and Indie Soul produces a sound that has made an indelible impact on the Big Easy. David's soaring popularity and professional success with The Revivalists illustrate why he is seen as among the area’s top emerging artists of 2010-11.

"To live your dream, you have to believe in it enough to sell it," David says. "Once you have sold your audience on it, you have to keep cultivating its meaning, to find its soul and set it free to expand."

He's a man who has been perfecting his acoustic guitar skills for the past 16 years, remaining focused on his music while earning his degree at Ohio State University. In 2006, he was awarded first place in the Ohio radio station singer/songwriter contest and was named "Acoustic Idol." The ensuing recognition motivated David to relocate to New Orleans, a more musically competitive arena. He currently resides in New Orleans and has an aggressive 2011 touring schedule with The Revivalists. The band is slated to release their 3rd album this fall, and David himself continues his work on his solo debut album.
