WESTSIDE PLAYERS 

Westside Players is a variety group covering divergent musical styles from infectious groove tunes, Rock, Motown, Rhythm & Blues, Country, Jazz, Latin, Reggae, Disco, Love Songs & the Great American Songbook Standards.  Westside Players can be both robust and high energy for the dedicated Bands on the Beach dancers as well as a lighter sit back and listen musical experience.  With their years of experience and high caliber musicianship Westside Players is sure to entertain everyone’s palette.  Don’t miss this group, it will be one to remember!

Come experience Westside Players on Tuesday, September 26 from 7-9 p.m. at Gulfside Pavilion. Westside Players originated as a duo with guitar/vocals and a pianist beginning in early 2009 covering the Standards, compositions from the great composers of the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, often identified as the Great American Songbook including compositions of Cole Porter, Irvin Berlin, Harry Warren, Duke Ellingtion, George & Ira Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Hoagie Carmichael, Nat King Cole, and a host of others. The other side of Westside Players, the one you are going to hear for the most, carves out a much more robust and high energy repertoire.  The material for this side of Westside Players includes current styles of funky grooves including: Rock, Motown, Rhythm & Blues, Country, Jazz, Latin, Reggae, & possibly even some Ballroom dance tunes.  It’s always an intriguing combination of styles.

The group has increased its repertoire to include current styles of funky infectious groove tunes, Motown, Rhythm & Blues, Smooth Jazz, Latin, Rock, Reggae, & Ballroom dance tunes, which has broadened Westside Players’ palette and created a bridge to the vast breadth of the past – this makes for an intriguing combination of styles. The music to be played for Bands on the Beach will give its audience a taste of these diverse styles played by some of Pensacola’s most talented musicians.

Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to the pavilion area. No pets are allowed and glass is prohibited. Concerts are provided and organized by the Santa Rosa Island Authority.
