Pensacola Beach’s popular outdoor summer concert series, Bands on the Beach, features a lineup of performers sure to please every musical taste.

The Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA) invites families and friends, young and old, to unpack their beach chairs and blankets, dig their toes in the sand, and spend a Friday evening cozied up on Pensacola Beach while enjoying a FREE classic family film.

The 2024 Cinemas in the Sand movie nights return in March through October on the following Friday nights from the Gulfside Pavilion on Casino Beach. Each movie will begin at sunset.

The 2025 Cinemas in the Sand movie nights return in March through October on these select Friday nights, starting at sunset, from the Gulfside Pavilion stage on Casino Beach.

Presented by the Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA), this beloved tradition invites locals and visitors alike to gather under the stars, feel the sand between their toes, and enjoy timeless movie classics against the breathtaking backdrop of the Gulf of Mexico.

2025 Cinemas in the Sand Lineup:

• Friday, March 14: “Space Jam” – This 1996 Warner Bros. live-action and animated sports comedy film follows basketball superstar Michael Jordan as he is brought out of retirement by the Looney Tunes characters to help them win a basketball match against invading aliens intent on enslaving them as amusement park attractions.

• Friday, April 11: “The Parent Trap” – This 1998 romantic comedy film tells the story of identical twin sisters, separated at birth, who meet at summer camp and hatch a plan to reunite their long-lost parents. Starring Lindsay Lohan in a dual role, the movie is filled with heartwarming moments and hilarious hijinks.

• Friday, May 9: “Moana 2” – This 2024 Disney-animated musical adventure reunites Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.

• Friday, August 8: “Shrek” – This 2001 animated comedy film by DreamWorks Animation follows the journey of an ogre named Shrek who embarks on a quest to rescue Princess Fiona with the help of a talkative donkey. Along the way, they encounter various fairy tale creatures and learn valuable lessons about friendship and acceptance.

• Friday, September 12: “Toy Story” – This 1995 Pixar animated adventure comedy takes place in a world where toys come to life when humans are not present and focuses on the relationship between an old-fashioned, pullstring cowboy doll named Woody, played by Tom Hanks, and a modern space cadet action figure named Buzz Lightyear, played by Tim Allen. Woody develops jealousy towards Buzz when he becomes their owner Andy’s favorite toy.

• Friday, October 10: “Beatlejuice Beatlejuice” – This 2024 American gothic dark fantasy comedy directed by Tim Burton is the sequel to the 1988 mega-hit Beetlejuice and stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara reprising their roles. After a family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down.

All movies are free to the public and will start at sunset on a giant outdoor movie screen in front of the Gulfside Pavilion stage, weather permitting.

Friday, June 23: “Finding Nemo” – This 2003 computer-animated Pixar film tells the story of an overprotective clownfish named Marlin (voiced by Mel Brooks) who, along with a forgetful blue tang fish named Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres), searches for his missing son Nemo. Along the way, Marlin learns to take risks and comes to terms with Nemo taking care of himself.
Friday, July 14: “The Sandlot” – Set in the summer of 1962, this coming-of-age sports comedy film tells the story of a new kid in town who is taken under the wing of a young baseball prodigy and his rowdy team, resulting in many adventures.
Friday, July 28: “Moana” – This 2016 computer-animated, musical action-adventure fantasy film by Walt Disney is about an adventurous teenager who, with the help from demigod Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson), sails out on a daring mission to prove herself a master wayfinder and save her people.
Friday, August 4: “The Sandlot” – Set in the summer of 1962, this coming-of-age sports comedy film tells the story of a new kid in town who is taken under the wing of a young baseball prodigy and his rowdy team, resulting in many adventures.
Friday, Sept. 1: “The Greatest Showman” – Rescheduled to Friday, Sept. 22 – This 2017 biographical musical drama is based on the story and life of P.T. Barnum, a famous showman and entertainer, and his creation of the Barnum & Baily Circus and its star attractions. The movie stars actors Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya.
Friday, Sept. 15: “Wall-E” – This 2008 computer-animated science fiction film by Pixar follows a solitary robot on a future, uninhabitable, deserted Earth in 2805, left to clean up garbage. He is visited by a probe sent by the starship Axiom, a robot called EVE, with whom he falls in love and pursues across the galaxy.

Friday, Sept. 29: “Night at the Museum” – This 2006 fantasy comedy film stars Ben Stiller and tells the story of a divorced father who applies for a job as a night watchman at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City and subsequently discovers that the exhibits, animated by a magical Egyptian artifact called the tablet of Akhmenrah, come to life at night.
Friday, Oct. 13: “Halloweentown” – Halloweentown is a 1998 Disney Channel Original Movie starring Debbie Reynolds, Kimberly J. Brown, Joey Zimmerman, and Judith Hoag. It centers on Marnie, who on her 13th Halloween, learns she’s a witch, discovers a secret portal, and is transported to Halloweentown — a magical place where ghosts and ghouls, witches and werewolves live apart from the human world: but she soon finds herself battling wicked warlocks, evil curses, and endless surprises.
