Keep the Skies Clear: No Drones or Kites During the Pensacola Beach Air Show

Heading to the Pensacola Beach Air Show? Help keep the show safe, on schedule and in the air by leaving your drone and kite at home.

This year, the Santa Rosa Island Authority is partnering with Escambia County Public Safety and Visit Pensacola to spread the word about drone and kite restrictions after numerous infractions were reported during last year’s air show.

Drones and kites are strictly prohibited during the Pensacola Beach Air Show. Once aircraft demonstrations begin, all drones and kites must be grounded and remain so until the U.S. Navy Blue Angels have completed their performance.

And this is serious. Anyone caught flying a drone in restricted airspace during the air show could face arrest and felony charges. Beyond the legal consequences, a single drone could bring the entire air show to a halt.

Any drone detected within a FIVE-MILE RADIUS of the airspace will result in an immediate halt of the show until the airspace is clear. That means one person ignoring the rules could stop the performances for thousands of spectators gathered along Pensacola Beach.

Keeping the airspace clear is critical to protecting pilots, spectators and everyone involved in the event.

Leave the drone at home. Keep the skies clear. Keep the show flying.
